Programme Leader: Gun Isaksson Hurst

A five year part-time training, leading to a Diploma and MSc degree in Humanistic Psychotherapy and a qualification to practice as a psychotherapist, together with an optional Diploma in Humanistic Counselling.

Due to the popularity of our Diploma in Humanistic Counselling Diploma with BSc (Hons) Degree, and as a result of student feedback, we have decided to offer a further Humanistic training course, namely a Diploma in Humanistic Psychotherapy, together with an MSc in Humanistic Psychotherapy awarded by Middlesex University. As with all of our psychotherapy trainings, the last three years of this five year programme, contribute to the award of an MSc.

Metanoia's Humanistic psychotherapy qualification provides an in-depth training for those planning to take up a career as a psychotherapist. The course takes place over four taught years, during the day on Mondays (during term time) from 12.00pm – 7.30pm, followed by a fifth year in the form of a dissertation year. The course includes theoretical input, skills training, personal development and practical experience of working with clients. Students in the third year and above may also opt to take the Metanoia Clinical Diploma in Humanistic Psychotherapeutic Counselling, which is gained via additional study days and a written and oral examination. This counselling diploma provides a path to BACP accreditation.

Students graduate from the Humanistic psychotherapy course, through the successful completion of a 15,000 word written examination and an oral examination. We intend to have this course accredited by the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). This accreditation cannot be applied for, however, until one full training cycle has been completed. As the course has been designed to fulfil all of the requirements for UKCP registration, we are confident that this registration will be in place, by the time that the first students graduate from the course.

This programme was developed and is delivered and assessed by Metanoia Institute, awarded by and quality assured by Middlesex University.
